X-BB GUN-Safety2

Air Rifle, BB and Pellet Gun Safety To help make your air gun shooting experience safe and enjoyable, we've put together some tips that will put you right on target. If this is your first BB or pellet gun, sit down with your parents and discuss under what circumstances the gun can be handled. Whenever you shoot always have adult supervision. Rules for Safe Gun Handling Three basic rules apply whenever you are handling a gun -- under any circumstances. Rule No. 1 is the "Golden Rule of Gun Safety." • Always point the gun in a safe direction. Never point the BB or pellet gun at yourself or others. Common sense should dictate which direction is the safest. It is generally safest to point your gun upward or downward. Rule No. 2• Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. There's a natural tendency to place your finger on the trigger when picking up or handling a gun. Don't do it! That's what trigger guards are made for. They let you hold the gun comfortably with your finger off the trigger. Rule No. 3• Know how the rifle operates. Before handling a gun, learn how it operates. This includes knowing its basic parts, how to safely load and unload and how to safely remove BB's or pellets from the gun. Also, remember that a gun's mechanical safety device is never foolproof. The gun safety can never replace safe gun handling. Rules for Safe Gun Shooting When shooting -- these basic rules must always be followed: Be sure of your target -- and what's beyond. Be absolutely sure that you have identified your target without any doubt. Make sure the target can't cause ricochets. Equally important, be aware of the area beyond your target. This means looking to see where your BB or pellet will go before you shoot. Never shoot in a direction in which there are people. Check for other potential accidents. It's simple: Think first! Shoot second! Always wear eye protection Your eyes are important to your well-being. Don't mix alcohol or drugs with shooting. Alcohol and other substances likely to impair normal mental or physical functions should not be used before shooting or while handling guns. Don't reuse BB's or pellets. They can become deformed and damage your gun or cause an accident. Remember other conditions may require additional safety rules. Whenever you shoot a BB or pellet gun it is essential that you use a safe shooting range. A safe range can be set up in many places: in your home, backyard, school, recreation center or church. To have a safe range three things must be present: Safe Area - Whether in a basement, hall or room be sure your range is set up so no one can accidentally walk in front of the firing line. Indoors, make sure doors and side windows are locked. In the back-yard, always shoot in a safe direction. In either case, never point the gun toward windows or where people might walk. Safe Distance - Have at least 15 feet between the shooter and the target. Safe Backstop - A backstop to trap your BB's or pellets and hold your target can be easily made from a large cardboard box or check out Air Rifle USA back stops and Target Accessories. Additional tip:Always clean up your used targets and any other trash you might have used. PARENTSYou are responsible for insuring that your children are taught about gun safety and for supervising their shooting activities. Before allowing your youngsters to handle a gun, be sure they know how and understand the rules. Air Rifle USA has all the Products that you would need, to have a fun time.

Cleaning & Maintenance BasicsFirst and foremost, read and understand the manufacture's instructions for both cleaning and maintenance and for safe operation of any airgun. Be Sure The Air Gun IS Not Loaded or Cocked before Cleaning. Quality airguns require only a small amount of routine maintenance: however, proper care is important. Lubicants like Chamber Lube and Spring Oil are literally used only 2 or 3 drops at a time, following the manufacture's instructions. Over-lubrication as well as lack of lubrication can lead to a decrease in the satisfactory service life of a fine airgun. DO NOT use regular oils in the Air Compression Chamber or Mainspring area - use only approved lubicants. Never dry-firean airgun (fire without a pellet in place) unless the manufacture specifically approves. When in Doubt, assume an Emphatic NO!! Look in Air Rifle USA Accessories for the best in cleaning supplys.
